How We Deliver a Generator Installation

A defined sequence from first enquiry to operator handover. Each stage has a deliverable you can file — so project managers and procurement officers always know what happens next.

This process scales across every sector we power, including: mining and quarrying power solutions, healthcare and hospitals power solutions and manufacturing and industrial power solutions.

  1. 01

    01 Enquiry and load assessment

We collect purpose, site location, known loads and any existing readings. Where starts and diversity are unclear, we model or schedule a site assessment rather than guessing kVA.

What you receive: A written load profile (or a clear list of assumptions still to verify).

    Indicative timeframe: 1–3 days

  2. 02

    02 Specification and quotation

You receive a technical specification — kVA rating, fuel map assumptions, canopy/open frame, controller and changeover scope — with a priced quotation. On request we include a five-year cost-of-ownership view using stated run hours and diesel price.

What you receive: Technical spec and priced quotation (optional five-year cost estimate).

    Indicative timeframe: 2–5 days

  3. 03

    03 Order and production planning

On acceptance we confirm configuration, deposit or account terms, and a committed despatch or site date. Options frozen on the order sheet are the options that ship.

What you receive: Order confirmation with a committed date.

    Indicative timeframe: Same day

  4. 04

    04 Site preparation review

Pad dimensions, access, exhaust route, fuel storage, cable paths and changeover position are checked against the drawing pack. Surprises found here are cheaper than surprises under a crane.

What you receive: Site requirements checklist signed off with your responsible person.

Indicative timeframe: About 1 week (parallel with build/freight)

  5. 05

    05 Delivery and positioning

The set is delivered, offloaded and placed on the prepared pad or plant-room position. Fuel first-fill can be arranged where scoped.

What you receive: Set on position, ready for electrical connection.

Indicative timeframe: As scheduled on the order confirmation

  6. 06

    06 Installation and commissioning

Fixed wiring, earthing, AMF/ATS integration and functional tests. Load testing proves the set under controlled demand. When AGP installs, work follows SANS 10142-1.

What you receive: Load test report and Certificate of Compliance (when AGP installs).

Indicative timeframe: 1–3 days on site (scope dependent)

  7. 07

    07 Handover and ongoing service

Operators are walked through start, stop, alarms and daily checks. Documentation and warranty registration close the project; service plans keep hour-based maintenance on a calendar.

What you receive: Operator training, O&M manual, warranty certificate and optional service plan.

Indicative timeframe: Handover day; service ongoing

Typical total lead times by generator size

Figures are indicative for standard configurations into South African sites. Custom canopies, abnormal transport, estate approvals and export clearance extend the clock. The order confirmation carries the committed date.

Size / scopeIndicative total lead
10–60 kVA silent (stocked configurations)Often days to ~2 weeks ex yard
80–150 kVATypically 2–5 weeks depending on options
200–500 kVA industrialOften 4–10 weeks including freight
500 kVA+ / paralleled / custom canopyProject schedule — confirmed on order
SADC export (after SA readiness)Add border and inland transit buffers
