AGP Generators offers three contracted maintenance tiers for diesel and petrol generator sets across South Africa. Essential covers scheduled servicing and battery checks, Advanced adds load bank testing and priority response, and Total Care includes remote monitoring, parts discount and guaranteed emergency response. Each plan issues an annual condition report so owners hold documented evidence that the set was maintained and is ready to carry load.
What is included
Scheduled service visits per plan tier
Oil, air, fuel and coolant filter changes
Battery test and replacement
Load bank test (Advanced and Total Care)
Controller firmware and alarm log check
Remote monitoring (Total Care)
Annual condition report
Priority emergency call-out
How we work
1
Asset register
We record the set details, engine and alternator nameplates, controller model, site access and criticality so service is planned against the right platform.
2
Tier selection
You choose Essential, Advanced or Total Care based on runtime, criticality and whether the set is life-safety or process-critical.
3
Scheduled servicing
Visits run to hour-meter or calendar intervals with oil, filters, coolant and battery checks completed and logged against the asset.
4
Load bank and reporting
Advanced and Total Care plans include periodic load bank tests and an annual condition report summarising findings, defects and recommendations.
5
Emergency response
Contracted sites receive priority dispatch with a recorded response time, parts discount and, on Total Care, remote monitoring that flags faults before they become failures.
Service plan comparison
Three contracted tiers. Advanced is our most specified plan — it balances load bank testing and priority response against cost.

Essential: Scheduled servicing for standby sets with low annual runtime.
Advanced: Most specified — load bank testing and priority response for operational sets.
Total Care: Remote monitoring, parts discount and guaranteed response for critical sites.
Why contracted maintenance matters
A generator that is not maintained is an assumption, not a backup. Standby sets sit idle for months, and the failures that surface during an outage are almost always preventable: flat batteries, stale fuel, blocked filters and seized cooling pumps.
A contracted plan turns the set into an operated asset with a service history. That history matters to insurers, to clinical engineering, to landlords and to anyone who has to answer for the set after an event.
Choosing a tier
Essential suits standby sets with low annual runtime where a same-day response is not contractually required. Advanced, our most specified tier, adds annual load bank testing and priority response for sets that carry operational or clinical load.
Total Care is for critical sites where downtime is measured against an SLA: remote monitoring flags faults early, parts carry a discount, and emergency response is held to a guaranteed SLA rather than best effort.
What it costs
Pricing for maintenance & service plans depends on the factors below. We quote in writing so the full cost is visible before any work starts.
Number of sets on site
Annual runtime hours
Plan tier selected
Engine platform and parts availability
Site distance and access

Essential covers scheduled servicing for low-runtime standby sets. Advanced adds annual load bank testing and priority response. Total Care adds remote monitoring, a parts discount and a guaranteed emergency response SLA.
Advanced. It balances cost against the load bank testing and priority response that operational and clinical sites need, without the remote monitoring overhead of Total Care.
Typically on hour-meter intervals or a calendar fallback, whichever comes first. Essential runs two visits a year, Advanced four, and Total Care six or more for high-runtime sets.
Annual load bank testing is included in Advanced and Total Care. Essential covers no-load starts and servicing only, because a standby set with low runtime may not justify the test cost.
Yes. We register the asset against its nameplates and quote service against the actual engine platform, regardless of where the set was originally purchased.
Contracted sites receive priority dispatch with a recorded response time. Total Care sites are held to a guaranteed SLA, and remote monitoring can flag the fault before the call comes in.
